"Artichoke" Button Earrings (Abalone Pearl, 22k, 18k Gold)

Lustrous blue abalone pearls are a rare gem borne of marriage of technology and nature. Since saltwater pearl cultivation was perfected more than 100 years ago, people wondered whether the abalone (basically a snail) could produce pearls echoing the rainbow tones of it's beautiful iridescent shell. Finally, in the 1990's, a company in New Zealand managed to coax blister pearls from abalone shells, and this is where we sourced the mesmerizing pearls in our "Artichoke" button earrings. Tiny hand-fabricated repoussé 22k "petals" encircle 14.5mm blue-green pearlescent gems, some of the rarest pearls on the market. These gorgeous 1.25" diameter earrings have an 18k Omega clip-back and fold-down post for convertibility and comfort. A hidden hook on the back accommodates any of our earring drops with the smaller connector loops.
