"Winona" Necklace (Tahitian Keshi Baroque Pearl, 18k Gold)
"Winona" Necklace (Tahitian Keshi Baroque Pearl, 18k Gold)
The most precious pearls are not cultivated-- they are naturally formed by bits of sand or other foreign objects entering a South Pacific oyster (Pinctadus Maximus), and being coated in its iridescent nacre over months or years--this lustrous organic substance magically creates pearls. These natural, freeform pearls are known as "keshi", and are most highly prized, because they are 100% nacre, and non-cultured. In our "Winona" necklace, 12.76 grams of lustrous and rare gunmetal-toned Tahitian Keshi pearls were hand-drilled and strung on oxidized sterling silver wire links, interspersed with hand-made 22k gold beads, for pops of matte gold contrast. This versatile 36" opera-length necklace does double-duty as a 2-strand choker, and 5-strand wrap bracelet, and pairs well with our pearl pendants and mixed-metal charms (shown on model with P-13525 black pearl "Christine" pendant). An elegantly casual wearable jewel made from Nature's oceanic treasures--natural Tahitian keshi pearls!
