"Sri Lanka" Pendant (Italian Coral, 22k, 18k Gold)

Mediterranean red coral is an organic gemstone which comes from the branches of Coralis Rubrum, a type of hard coral native to the ocean around Italy. Revered since antiquity for its beauty and favored by jewelers for its versatility in carving and inlay, it has adorned the tombs of pharaohs and the crowns of royalty. The designer found a one-gram chunk and had it carved into a 5.75 carat fluted bead resembling a flower bud for the "Sri Lanka" pendant (.75" x .5"). Set in a 22k matte gold floral design, with an 18k gold clasp, it makes the perfect addition to delicate chains, or our own beaded coral "Winona" necklace (shown on model, sold separately).
